In order to offer start-ups extra support in terms of explosive growth, Birdhouse Accelerator unites a 40-strong network of experts under the name Scale-up Eagles. They make their expertise and experience available to start-ups that want to scale up.
All members of the network have earned their spurs at top national and international companies and join after an exclusive invitation from Birdhouse. Amongst others, Gilles Mattelin (Intuo), Leslie Cottenjé (Hello Customer) and Davy Kestens (Cake, Sparkcentral) are part of the network. Each Scale-up Eagle has a unique expertise, which ranges from entrepreneurship and scaling in a broad sense, to marketing, funding, sales and tech more specifically.
Exclusively for the best start-ups in Belgium
The Scale-up Eagles network is exclusively accessible to ambitious start-ups that come through the strict selection procedure of the Birdhouse accelerator programme. Jan-Willem Callebaut, founder of the accelerator, explains the initiative:
“With over 3,500 registrations in the last three years, we know pretty well what’s going on with start-ups. For example, we see that there is a high need for specific knowledge around scaling a business. That know-how and experience is in the hands of people who have built it up themselves in recent years. However, that is a very select number. So it’s high time to unite them and go on a mission together to create the best future scale-ups in Belgium.”
“We serve Belgian start-ups on what they really need: personal access to knowledge and experience from people who have already proven themselves in the start-up jungle.”
Jan-Willem Callebaut notices that the ecosystem surrounding the guidance of start-ups is becoming more and more mature and that it is time for accelerator programmes that go a step further: “Start-ups expect, more than ever, tailor-made guidance. We have been doing that since day one, through our mentoring program. We are now taking a crucial extra step with the Scale-up Eagles. This way we serve Belgian start-ups on what they really need: personal access to knowledge and experience from people who have already proven themselves in the start-up jungle.”
